It is possible that in the past you used the old login solution of Meine SWM, which no longer exists. Meine SWM has switched to the M-Login. So if you do not have an M-Login account yet, please proceed as follows: 
Click on the link https://meine.swm.de to go to Meine SWM and click on the blue M-Login button to easily register for M-Login. After entering your data in M-Login, you will be redirected back to Meine SWM. In Meine SWM, now link your account with your contract account number (Vertragskontonummer in german) and your meter number (Zählernummer in german).  Now you can use all functions such as entering your meter reading.

If you have not received an e-mail from us in your inbox or spam folder, even though you have requested a new password, it may be that you do not have an M-Login account at this e-mail address. In this case, it is best to contact our customer service by phone at +49 800 796 06 54 or also by e-mail at kontakt@login.muenchen.de.

M-Login is a single sign-on service for various applications. One of them is “Meine SWM”, others are, for example, the “MVGO” app from MVG or the “Handyparken” app. Logging out of one of these applications only means that your session with the respective application ends - however, you remain logged in to other applications and to M-Login. This is the basic technical principle of a single sign-on service.

If you also want to log out of M-Login, you must go to https://login.muenchen.de/ and press the “Log out” button there. Alternatively, you can delete your session cookies from login.muenchen.de - this is exactly what happens automatically when you close the browser, which is why you will no longer be recognized when you log in after restarting the browser.

In two cases the M-Login account will be blocked for security reasons:

1. If you have entered an incorrect password three times in a row when logging in (the blocking will then last 60 minutes) and

2. if you have not confirmed your registration in accordance with data protection regulations and thus have not activated your account. In this case, you can send yourself a new confirmation e-mail when you log in: simply click on "Log in" at the top of this website, enter your login details and click on the appropriate link. Then go to your e-mail inbox and click on the link in the e-mail with the subject "M-Login Registrierung bestätigen / Confirm your M-Login registration" to activate your account. Please also check your junk folder.

The M-Login with the login.muenchen.de website and Meine SWM are separate offerings. The M-Login is a central login service. You may be familiar with "Login with Google" or "Login with Facebook". The M-Login follows the same principle, but with data protection and on a regional level. It is your access to various services of our partners, such as MVGO or even Meine SWM and many more.
This means that you can log in to all these apps or web applications using one and the same login data (your M-Login access data). This also corresponds to the way you might know from various online stores or other sites: You go to their website and can log in there with your Google or Facebook account, but you cannot access the online store directly in your Google or Facebook account. Accordingly, your M login account is the place where you can centrally maintain your data. All other actions, such as entering your meter reading, take place at the service itself. In the case of Meine SWM at https://meine.swm.de. 

This can have two reasons:

1. either you have already registered with M-Login in the past using a different e-mail address and linked Meine SWM to your contract via this M-Login account, or

2. someone else (e.g. your partner) has already linked their M-Login account to your contract.

In both cases, please contact the customer service of Meine SWM.

For an M-Login account, you only need to provide your e-mail address and a password of your choice during registration. The use of the participating services may be associated with entering further data in your M-Login account such as address, mobile number, etc. These will be requested subsequently in the course of service use if you have not already provided them during registration.

In your M-Login account you can view and change all stored data at any time. To do this, you can log in directly via this website. If, for example,  you change your e-mail address, it will be updated centrally for all services you use via the M-Login.

The MVGO app may require you to have your driver's license verified in order to use some of the services of this app. Therefore, the verification and deposit of your driver's license in the M-Login account is only necessary if you want to use a service that requires your driver's license data.

Data protection is our top priority. Data security is regularly checked by experts and current security standards are continuously taken into account.

Each partner whose service is accessible via the M-Login specifies which data is required for it's use. You yourself decide whether you want to use the service and thus release your data. The service thus only receives the data relevant to it. In your M-Login account under the tab Consents & approvals and Approval for my activated services you can see which service requires which data. The transfer of your data to third parties is excluded.

3. Enable MFA: Under “Login and Security,” select “Activate Two-Factor Authentication.”
4. Install an Authenticator App if necessary (e.g., Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator).
5. Set up the Authenticator App:
   Follow the on-screen instructions to register the second factor. Scan the QR code with your Authenticator app. The second factor is now set up. A new 6-digit code will be generated every 30 seconds.
6. Enter your password and the 6-digit code in M-Login.
7. Confirmation: After successful setup, MFA is active. For every login, you will be asked for a security code in addition to your password.

This may be either because you have not yet activated the respective security procedure or because your bank refuses for other reasons. Since 01.01.2021, all online merchants are obliged to implement the EU Payment Services Directive. This offers customers and merchants greater security for electronic payments by credit card. For this purpose, additional authentication (security procedure) must be performed when credit cards are deposited. Details on the authentication procedure used can usually be found on the website of the issuing bank of your credit card.

Our goal is for M-Login to become a central platform for managing all your user data, your digital identity, so to speak. Managing the payment method in M-Login is another step in this direction. Above all, it saves you time. You only enter your means of payment in one place, use it for different services, and if you want to update your payment data, you do it once centrally in your M-Login account. And that then applies to all the services you use.

You can easily store and update your SEPA or credit card data in your M-Login account under the tab Means of payment.

You can deposit the SEPA direct debit and various credit cards (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) in your M-Login account.

Novalnet AG is our new payment service provider, to which we switched in February 2023. Novalnet is a full-service payment provider and is one of the leading financial services institutions for professional online payment processing in Europe, based in Germany. Unlike many payment providers, Novalnet's data is hosted in Germany. Novalnet undergoes regular audits according to the regulations of the PCI-DSS organization (PCI DSS = Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and offers the highest possible protection and security for your data.

Since February 2023, we have been working with our new payment service provider Novalnet AG. To continue paying with SEPA Direct Debit, you must reconfirm your SEPA mandate once. Your IBAN does not have to be deposited again. To continue paying by SEPA direct debit, you must reconfirm your SEPA mandate once. To do this, simply log in to your M-Login account.

So far HandyParken München, MVGO, münchen app und SWM more have switched to the central means of payment management in M-Login. Therefore, in these cases, you manage your means of payment in M-Login. The other services have not yet switched over and have their own means of payment management.

In addition, you can check the data released to the services in use under the tab Approval for my activated services or withdraw them by deactivating the service.

You can delete your M-Login account by logging in and clicking on Delete M-Login account. Deleting the account will also delete the links to the participating services, provided that there are no outstanding claims or services with any of the linked services. In your M-Login account under the tab Services and Deactivate, you can deactivate services that you no longer wish to use. From this point on, the service is no longer allowed to access your data and must delete any data it has already received.

If an error message appears when deactivating, it may be that there is still an open claim or purchase on the part of the app or website you used. The reason is explained in the error message. A passkey is a modern and secure sign-in method that lets you log in to M-Login without entering a password.
Instead of typing a password, you simply confirm the login using your device—e.g., with a fingerprint, facial recognition, or device PIN.

A passkey is simpler and more secure than a traditional password.
You don’t need to remember an additional password and at the same time benefit from better protection against phishing.
The passkey is tied to your M-Login account and can only be used for legitimate sign-ins.

To use a passkey, your device must have a screen lock or device unlock method, such as:

• a PIN
• a fingerprint
• facial recognition

Depending on your device, additional requirements may apply, for example:

• iCloud Keychain on Apple devices
• Windows Hello on Windows devices
• an enabled screen lock on Android devices

Setup is simple:

• Open your M-Login profile settings
• Sign in with your username and password
• In the “Sign-in and security” section, select “Set up passkey”
• Follow the instructions on your device
• Then log out once and test signing in using the passkey button on the login screen
