Possibility 1: Your Internet browser that you are using to access the IDnow verification website is not supported in combination with the device you are using.
The following list informs which devices work (+) in combination with which internet browsers for a successful driver's license verification and which do not (-). Your combination does not work? Then it is best to try with another device or Internet browser.
1. Apple smartphones
+ Safari (with version 11 or newer)
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
- Samsung Internet
2. Android smartphones

3. Windows desktop

If your Internet browser and device are working, the problem must be somewhere else (see possibilities 2-5).
Possibility 2: Your driver's license is not in the required state.
I.e. ...
... the photo on your driver's license is not recognizable and the driver's license data (e.g. expiration of driver's license validity, driver's license class/s, date of driver's license, etc.) is not legible. Remove protective covers, dirt or similar from your document and perform the check again.
... Your driver's license is damaged. Try to check your driver's license again. If the process fails a second time, we recommend that you apply for a new driver's license document at your local office.
Possibility 3: Driving licenses from certain countries are not accepted by IDnow.
In order for your driver's license to be verified, it must have been issued in the European Union (EU, except Lithuania), the European Economic Area (EEA, except Lithuania) or the United States (USA).
Possibility 4: The photos you took during the verfication (shots of the driver's license or selfie of the license holder) do not meet IDnow's quality requirements.
It is best to use a smartphone, as these usually have better cameras than laptops, for example. Also make sure beforehand that
- you are in a bright place,
- your face is not covered (do not wear glasses, hat or similar),
- your driver's license data are legible and your driver's license picture is recognizable,
- you are alone in the photo,
- you are not taking pictures against the light
and keep your smartphone steady. You can also ask another person to help you take the pictures.
Also, pay close attention to the instructions on your screen.
If you have any questions about the driver's license test process, find out more here: How does the verification of my driver's license work?
Possibility 5: The person on the driver's license is not the same as the person on the selfie.
Make sure that you are using the correct driver's license document and that you are alone when taking the selfie.
In individual cases, it may be that the listed options do not solve your problem. In this case, please contact the respective service partner whose service you would like to use, e.g. Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG), the operator of the app MVGO.
